Patrick Pearse’s cottage (Ionad Cultúrtha an Phiarsaigh) is located in Ros Muc - a small village in south Connemara. It was here that Patrick Pearse, writer, educator and leader of the 1916 Rising built a cottage for himself on the shores of Loch Oiriúlach in 1909.
Once used as his holiday home, this traditional Irish cottage now includes a state-of-the-art visitor centre, though the star of the show is the quaint, typically Irish, stone cottage. All features have been maintained, such as the fireplace, cooking utensils and bedrooms. Take a meander down the path to the lake and on a nice day you would be hard pressed not to jump in!
And if you happen to meet Máirtín or Larry, count yourselves lucky – there is nothing these two don’t know about Pearse’s beautiful cottage.
