Job Bridge Vacancy- Organic Horticultural Assistant
The intern will gain practical experience in organic gardening in the Celtic Gardens and polytunnel, growing flowers, salads and vegetables, and liaising with local people and community groups to build community involvement in the poly-tunnel and Gardens. The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following a wide range of organic horticultural skills, and community liaison skills. On completion the intern will have attained skills in organic horticulture, flower, herb and vegetable growing, garden maintenance, communication and organisation.
The person will have a genuine interest in organic horticulture and in growing flowers, vegetable and salad crops. She or he will be a good team player but also able to generate and implement ideas and use their initiative. They will have an interest in community and have good communication and people skills as they will have an opportunity to increase voluntary participation in the gardens, especially from people with special needs.
Third Level - No specific qualifications are required, but a horticultural qualification would be ideal. The person must have a suitable level of literacy and numeracy.
No Experience Required
This is an Internship. An allowance of €50 per week will be paid in addition to your current Social Welfare payment.See eligibility criteria above. Duration is 9 months and will be 32 hours per weeks. Hours and days of work to be confirmed.
