The photo above is of Michelle Maher's pond sculpture entitled 'Coccolithophores'. Coccolithophores are the single-celled algae that inspired her beautiful pond sculpture.
A close-up of this beautiful algae appears right.
Enjoy a lively variety of work by Tommy Casby, Cecilia Danell, Pieter Koning, Michelle Maher, Samantha McGahon, Tim Acheson, Louise Manifold, Michele Horrigan, Knee-Jerk, Ann Maria Healy, Roisin Coyle, Alannah Robins, Ceara Conway, and recent GMIT graduates Fiona Hession and Marie Hannon.
The works are as exciting and varied as the natural landscape of the gardens. Several works address the theme of home and shelter. The show encompasses a stimulating mix of media including the use of sound, and video works by Michele Horrigan and Louise Manifold.
The aim of Outside: Insight is to give artists an opportunity to make work for outdoors and gives visitors to the gardens an opportunity to engage with art in a natural context.
The Outside: Insight exhibition is presented in association with Galway Arts Centre
and supported by the Galway County Council.
