Introduction to Forest School - CANCELLED
Update 21/3/19 - Introduction to Forest School is now cancelled.
This Introduction to Forest School is perfect for anyone thinking of becoming a forest school leader, or any teachers, preschool workers, or parents that are interested in outdoor learning with children. Explore hands-on nature activities and crafts, sing songs, introduce tool use and tips in bringing children safely outside to explore nature.
What will you be doing?
This taster session will introduce you to the principles of forest school and some of the theory behind it. You will be covering the importance of risky activities with children, and how to incorporate risky play into outdoor learning.
You will gain an understanding how natural environments can help to foster children's developmental milestones.
Throughout the day you will:
- create nature crafts
- play nature games/activities
- learn nature songs and folklore
- learn about fire safety/fire building and cooking over a fire
- cook over a fire
- develop environmental awareness
- explore nature
- learn foraging and plant identification
This will be an experience of what happens in a forest school session, and that means going out in all weathers! So please dress for the weather - waterproofs, outdoor shoes and layers are great!
Also, please bring some lunch with you as the lunch break will take place over the fire. Foraged tea will be provided, and some treats over the fire too!
When: 24th of March 2019
Where: Brigit's Garden, Pollagh, Moycullen, Co Galway
Cost: €50 per person.
