Forest School Leadership Training
Down to Earth Forest School are delighted to welcome Huathe to Brigit's Garden in September 2018 for Forest School Leadership Training.
The training runs over 8 days and includes and at least 110 hours of self-study over approximately 9 months.
During the training you will gain knowledge in:
Learning and development at Forest School
Practical skills for Forest School
Woodland environment at Forest School
Planning a Forest School programme
Policies and procedures
The principles and history of forest school
During the self-study period (October-April) you will:
- Plan and deliver a six week Forest School programme with a group of children that includes practical activities based on reflective assessment.
- Complete practical workbooks supporting the delivery and development of Forest School.
- Create other materials demonstrating your understanding of both learning theory and woodland environments.
This course is appropriate for anyone 21 or over with at least Level 2 in youth work, childcare, teaching or at least 2 years’ experience working with children. You will need to have Garda vetting and to hold or acquire a 16 hour outdoor paediatric first aid certificate. (This is not included in the course price.)
Work Schedule & Details
There will be practical and theoretical study at Brigit's Garden on September 22th - 25th and October 17th - 19th. In between October and April will be time for self-study and to plan and facilitate your 6 pilot sessions and complete your assessments and workbook. On April 6th-7th you will hand in your workbooks.

Upon completion of the course you will receive a 3rd level qualification by the Open College Network, which is internationally recognized and is equivalent to a FETAC Level 5.
